John D. Barry

“To see the infinite God in their everyday lives, that’s my hope for everyone. Wherever people need God’s love, that’s where I want to serve. I want to see people discover truth and live their beliefs.”
—John D. Barry

CUTTING TIES WITH DARKNESS

We all have painful stories and relationships on the rocks. In Cutting Ties with Darkness, John D. Barry explores how we deal with these scars in light of Jesus’ example. How do we discern when to reconcile and when to walk away? In 2 Corinthians, the Apostle Paul tells us that we must cut ties with the darkness—both within ourselves and in others—before we’re able to rebuild our lives on the redemption of Jesus. Renowned scholar Craig Keener says, “In beautiful prose, John offers practical insight for our lives … his heart for the world shines through.”

SEE THE RESURRECTED SERVANT

Many have stood in awe of the Suffering Servant prophecy in Isaiah 53, either because of its lack of precedence in the ancient world or its parallel to Jesus. However, since the arguments of two scholars were presented over 30 years ago, there has been little examination of the Servant’s possible resurrection. Using new linguistic methods, John D. Barry argues that the Servant is indeed resurrected. Famed scholar Bruce Waltke says, “Barry’s exegesis … is brilliant. His book will be my first port of call when studying this great text.”
